What happens when you give paddles to a bunch of competitive and food loving professionals? They form Lightwave and compete locally and outside the Bay Area in the wet, intense sport of dragon boat racing.
Our team has been in existence since 1996 when dragon boat racing
first became a sport in the Bay Area. We are a co-ed team and comprise
of numerous nationalities. And although we practice hard and win racing
trophies/medals, dragon boating is also an excuse for all of us to
simply hangout and eat together after each practice session in Redwood
City or San Francisco.
So if you are competitive, interested in a new sport, want to be
part of a great team, or just love to eat out, don’t wait! Stop by

2009 End of Season Dinner
Lightwave concluded another successful season with, what else, a delicious, celebratory meal. We feasted on Brazilian BBQ, and nominated individuals for the 2010 operations team. With this changing of the guard, we look forward to another year of hard paddling and food-filled social events.As always, members are encouraged to recruit friends and invite them to try dragon boating when we resume practices next spring. Go Waves!

2009 Treasure Island Race
Awesome performance by the team resulting in GOLD medals in Rec A Cons division! 2009 Long Beach Weekend Race
This year we're back to Long Beach race to kick ... and take names. Well, not quite, but it was fun-filled racing weekend with our buddy team DPW hosting. As tradition, we did water-melon eating contest with a twist, super model impersonation photo shoot. This time we topped it off with a fun trip to Universal Studios.

2009 Fremont Sprint
The strong performance by the team this year again beat the previous results. Maybe a little too strong since we got into Division B for the first time ever! However, it proved too be really tough and we didn't manage to get any hardware (placed 5th)
